These walleye were not resident fish, but Lake Michigan fish that are staging for their spring spawn. These fish are my favorite, but you really, really have to put in your time to find them. Every area with flowing water will hold walleye, but deeper water close to gravel and food is the key! 20 feet of water, at least, is necessary to hold them. ( hot water discharges are flowing water)
We went back two days later and the water was freezing right in front of our eyes! No fish.
